    • Abstract:
The article focuses on vital issues raised by the negative findings of the Aspirin for Asymptomatic Atherosclerosis (AAA) trial about the benefit of aspirin to people with reduced ankle-brachial index (ABI) but no history of occlusive vascular disease. Low statistical power is cited as possible reason for lack of statistically significant reduction in the trial's outcome. It is noted that in considering whether to start aspirin therapy in a person with reduced ABI yet no prior vascular events, it should be that its expected benefits outweigh the risks.
